Some people are actually more interested in understanding themselves rather than being understood. For example, if you want to understand yourself, you could start by doing something that makes you uncomfortable, like talking about your feelings or eating certain foods. You might even be surprised to find yourself more interested in understanding yourself rather than being understood.
I don’t think this is a coincidence. Because when you are truly in the center of your universe, you don’t have much of an interest in understanding others. What people want is to be understood, and that’s definitely something that you often don’t have time for.
