In our experience, most people have been told that if their skin looks like a cartoon in their mind, they will never be able to draw those cartoon characters. The main reason is that the cartoon characters look so realistic. But sometimes they don’t. You can get a nice cartoon character in a cartoon. For example, this one looks like this cartoon of a woman who got killed by the monster. She turns into a cartoon character with only one hand holding her face in the middle of the picture.
In the end, it comes down to how you present your work to the world. The more believable your work is in the real world, the more it will be likely to be appreciated by everyone interested in your work.

There is a fine line between real work that is liked and real work that isn’t liked. If your work is too realistic, it may not be well liked by people who are interested in your work. When your work is too cartoonlike, it may not be well appreciated by people who are interested in your work.
This is one of the things that I’ve noticed about the Internet, especially with regard to photography and illustration. There seems to be this dichotomy between the real and the “cartoonlike”. I think this is especially true with regard to the Internet itself. Sometimes I think it is best to be a little cartoonlike, and not be too real.
